Nigeria Government
Nigeria is a Federal republic with a presidential system of government fashioned after the US model. This is made up of the Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary.
At the National level, the Executive is made up of the Presidency and the Legislature is made up of the Senate. The Three arms are replicated at the state level. At the state level, the Executive is made up of the Governor, the Deputy Governor and the State House of Assembly while the Judiciary is made up of State High Courts.


Legal System


Four systems of law in Nigeria:
· English Law: from its colonial past with Britain
· Common law
· Customary law: from indigenous traditional norms and practices

· Sharia law: used only in the Hausa and Muslim north of the country

Executive branch

· The president: elected by the people
· The Executive branch is divided into Federal Ministries
· Ministries

o Various Parastatals (government-owned corporations)

§ Nigerian National Petroleum Corp (Petroleum)

§ Responsible of the Office of the Presidency
· Independent National Electoral Commission
